Iron Fist Clothing
The Iron Fist Clothing Brand was started by two very good friends, Mike and Travis. Both Mike and Travis were into surfing, art, skateboarding, and street culture. They had an idea about designing tee shirts that would appeal to a large base. They wanted their clothing to have more than the regular street wear look. To make it innovative they needed to think outside of the norm and offer a style with artwork. Their goal was to block a specific genre and instead try for something a little more. Their brand is still not completely skate, hip hop, punk, or tattoo in style. Each season their brand redefines the typical tee shirt to uphold the label Iron Fist. The team once stated that their clothing is not for everyone. Instead it is for a person who wishes to find their personal style, not by buying it but by making it.
The brand was first released as an item sold out of Travis trunk. They were starving artists really, yet as the artwork and shirts continued to sell they were able to make a little more out of the business. The two partners managed to grow their business in 5 years to be an international company. Their label is sold in the UK, South Africa, Australia, Russia, Canada, the Middle East, and much of Europe. Their flagship store is based out of Cape Town. The duo is not going to stop with just one store. They intend on opening more rather than selling to clothing distributors for the rest of their career.
Their clothing line is now more than just tee shirts with top designs. They sell board shorts, tank tops, bags and hats. Each of the items sold by Iron Fist has a spectacularly detailed design. Many of the shirts and shorts do cater more to the skulls, but that is not all that they produce. Their We are 138 beach bag has a robot with Viking horns stomping over a city and demolishing it. The Iron Fist Darkness tee shirt has a winged creature, mostly skeletal, on the front. It takes a second look to see the intricacies that go into the picture.
Iron Fist even sells a Helwaii pair of swim shorts. The shorts are all the colours of a Hawaiian premise, but there are flowers with eyes and Idols throughout the shorts. The Iron Fist reversible hoody titled Neon Vomit is yet another interesting concept. The hoody is very bright yellow on one side, with the Iron Fist logo in blue.
Needless to say, Iron Fist is definitely a product out of the mainstream. This is not something a fashionista would venture towards, but something that really speaks about personality. The Iron Fist Wishbone tee shirt is another good example of this. In mainstream you would have a nice cut, an expensive material, and perhaps a dainty logo. Instead the shirt has one half side with your skeleton anatomy, and the other side pointing out features.
